Ghada Al-Mutairi is a Saudi Arabian inventor and researcher who has made significant contributions to the fields of nanomedicine, nanotechnology, chemistry, and polymer science. She is recognized for her groundbreaking work in developing new materials with unique properties for medical applications, such as remote drug delivery and early disease detection. Born in Portland, Oregon, to parents of Saudi descent, Al-Mutairi grew up in a family that valued science and encouraged her to pursue her dreams. After completing her high school education in Jeddah, Al-Mutairi traveled to the United States to pursue higher education. Driven by her passion for research, she continued her studies and obtained a master's degree and a Ph.D. in materials chemistry from the University of California, Riverside.



Al-Mutairi's research has focused on developing new materials with unique properties that can be used for various applications, including medicine, robotics, and space exploration. Her early work focused on creating flexible plastic materials that have since been used in a wide range of industries.

In the field of nanomedicine, Al-Mutairi has made significant contributions to the development of nanoparticles that can be used to deliver drugs directly to diseased cells, reducing side effects and improving treatment outcomes. She has also developed nanoparticles that can be used to detect diseases early, when they are most treatable.

She has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to science, including the NIH Director's New Innovator Award, the Pharma Foundation Award, the Chemistry Journal Award (THEMA), the Young Investigator Award at the World Biomaterials Congress, and the Kavli Fellowship of the US National Academy of Sciences.

In addition to her scientific achievements, Al-Mutairi is also a successful entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of eLux, a medical company that is developing new technologies for minimally invasive liposuction procedures.
