Mariam is a scientist born in Syria during the 10th century. According to ibn al-Nadim she was the daughter of an astrolabe maker known as al-ʻIjliyyi her father and her were apprentices (tilmīthah) of an astrolabe maker from Baghdad, Nasṭūlus.
Mariam is known for developing Astrolabes, an ancient astronomical computer for solving problems relating to time and position of the sun and stars.
Creating astrolabes is a very difficult task and is used for navigation, finding prayer direction and so much more.
